This design is actually a modification of the Celtic Tulip Cross in Square, which you can read about here. You can see that I used the original design, then added the lower section to extend the cross from the square design, adding the stem and leaves.
This was originally a was produced from the mold of the other design. I modified the wax, adding the lower arm of the cross and carving the design. Now, a new mold can be made and the new cross cast.
This cross feels rugged to me. So I guess it just felt right to take a picture of it sitting on the head of my hatchet.
